A Private Chef is one that works exclusively for one client, as opposed to Personal Chefs who provide a range of culinary services for numerous clients.
Private Chefs are the perfect solution for families or individuals who need to assign the culinary aspect of their househols to a professional, much as some families require a nanny or caregiver to the care of their children or a maid service to clean their homes.

Generally, Private Chefs are contracted for a specific period of time, e.g. a year, and may negotiate the terms of the contract. Alternatively, they may be employed, in which case, they are governed by Employment Law, and as such have specific hours of work or responsibilities, as well as pre-determined 'time-off.'
They are responsible for menu planning, shopping, meal preparation each day as well as any special events, such as dinner parties, that their employer may have.
